NWHA Ambassador Program

About the Program

In 2023, the Ambassador Program was introduced to encourage membership and participation with the National Walking Horse Association, even if there are no NWHA affiliated shows in an individual's geographic region. This program specifically encompasses 4H, High School Team, and Open Horse shows in areas that have no access to NWHA affiliated or sanctioned events. The Ambassador Program has no borders, and is even open to competitors with Tennessee Walking Horses outside of the United States.

Program Requirements:

  • The rider must be an NWHA member no later than when log books are due on December 15. In this program, the points accumulate with the rider rather than the horse. The owner of the horse does not have to be an NWHA member.
  • Many shows will count for points, however, shows that are affiliated with any TWH HIO program are not eligible.  This restriction includes WHOA, SHOW, SSHBEA, TWHBEA and NWHA shows.
  • A rider cannot earn any awards in the NWHA Ambassador Program if they were the rider of any horse eligible for or receiving NWHA High Point awards, other than NWHA Ambassador Program Awards, in a calendar year.
  • Points can be earned in all classes, halter, pleasure and versatility. Classes can be open to all breeds or offered specifically for gaited horses.
  • Horses used do not have to be registered Tennessee Walking Horses as specified under NWHA rules (Rule 4.1.6) but must display walking horse gaits.

The full details of the Ambassador Program can be found below.

Logs are due December 15th

Please submit logs to: NWHA PO Box 12430 Reading, PA 19612 or by email to office@nwha.com.
